Wellbeing
The well-being of all pupils and staff is of vital importance to us.
In our recent inspection report (Jan, 2025), Ofsted note:
"The school supports pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs well. It provides a nurturing space for planned work to support individual needs, for example pupils who need help to better understand friendships and their feelings linked to these."
As part of supporting well-being for our pupils, we hold whole-school theme weeks/days, including:
Positive Psychology Week
I Feel Safe (British Values) Week
Anti-Bullying Week
Safer Internet Day
We promote physical activity and nutrition. We do this by providing:
- healthy-eating workshops,
- a variety of lunchtime and after-school clubs,
- Year 5/6 Playleaders, who take responsibility for facilitating structured games and play at breaktimes,
- regular participation in local sports tournaments for all ages,
- weekly swimming lessons for Y1-4,
- forest school outdoor learning days, which promote resilience, independence and perseverance.
As a school, we use Emotion Coaching and Zones of Regulation to help our pupils understand their feelings and to help them learn the tools to self-regulate their responses to emotions. All pupils and staff have been trained and pupils can confidently talk about the zones and how they are feeling.
