God Who Speaks

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales have designated 2020 as 'The God Who Speaks': A Year of the Word to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Verbum Domini - Pope Benedict XVI’s Apostolic Exhortation on ‘The Word of the Lord’, and the 1600th anniversary of death of St Jerome, who translated the Bible into Latin.’
2020 will be a year of celebrating, living and sharing God's word, through a range of events, activities and resources, available across the Diocese of Leeds.

We are invited to listen afresh to the word of God as did Our Blessed Lady at the Annunication, to encounter anew the presence of that word, and to proclaim it afresh in the Church and the World.

As a school, we will be participating in and celebrating this special time in a variety of ways throughout the year and all pupils will be studying the Gospels.

We are invited to listen afresh to the word of God as did Our Blessed Lady at the Annunciation, to encounter anew the presence of that word, and to proclaim it afresh in the Church and the World. Click here to find out more information.

Please use the Diocese of Leeds website to find out about activities that are being held during this special time.

RE CURRICULUM

We follow The Way, the Truth and The Life scheme of work for as the basis for our RE teaching. It begins in Reception and goes through to Year 6 and we cover 6 topics across the year.

Development of the Topics.

Developing of Skills.

We have daily Collective Worship either in class or as a whole school and a celebration assembly on Friday.  We use TenTen resources to plan our Act of Worship, along with Missio and CAFOD resources.

Prayer is a very important part of each day and is central to our life in school. The children enjoy writing and sharing prayers and we hope you can support them to pray at home.

We have regular whole school Masses and visit St Joseph's Catholic Church to celebrate monthly Family Mass, weekly Mass during Lent and Advent, as well as termly Mass and celebration of feast days.
