Joining reception in september 2025
All applications are made through North Yorkshire County Council by completing a common application form (CAF) which can be completed online.

We also require the completion of a Supplementary Information Form which can be downloaded below and should be sent direct to the School Office
Supplementary Information Form
Please see the Admissions Policy 2025-26 (below) for details of the application process, the number of places available and oversubscription criteria.
By law, if your child is refused a place at your preferred school, you have the right to appeal against that decision to an independent panel. School admission appeal panels are independent of the school and the local authority. At the hearing, you can present your reasons for preferring that particular school and the panel will decide whether your reasons are strong enough to overturn the admission authority's decision. Details of the appeals process and the form to submit can be found on the North Yorkshire website: Appeal for a school place | North Yorkshire Council
JOINING IN OTHER YEAR GROUPS
In-year applications are also submitted via North Yorkshire.
Changing schools and in year applications | North Yorkshire County Council
For in-year applications the school aims to respond in writing within 10 school days and no later than 15 school days. A refusal will outline the reasons for refusal and how to appeal for a school place.
NURSERY ADMISSIONS
Nursery admissions are run separately to other year groups. The first step in applying for a nursery/preschool place is to book a school tour. Please contact our school office:

Please note, admission to St Joseph's Nursery does not guarantee admission to the school in Reception.
